I do not think that there can ever be enough books about anything and I say that knowing that some of them are going to be about Pilates. The more knowledge the better seems like a solid rule of thumb, even though I have watched enough science fiction films to accept that humanity’s unchecked pursuit of learning will end with robots taking over the world.-Sarah Vowell

The Red-Headed League by Sir Authur Conan Doyle

In this Sherlock Holmes mystery, Watson is there to chronicle everything down. A red-headed man comes to them with a wild tale of an advertisement that his assistant had noticed in the paper that a member of the Red-Headed league had died and that it needed to be filled that it was begun by Ezwwkah Hopkins. Members were to do nominal work and receive a great fee in exchange.  His assistant points out the ad in the paper for redheaded men of a certain caliber to replace a man who has passed.

The red-headed man has come to Sherlock because the club suddenly stopped after a month or so and he wants to know if this was some kind of prank and if so than by who and why.  Sherlock takes the case because it is interesting and because there is a famous thief involved that he has always wanted to get.  This story is intriguing and while you might figure part of it out you won't figure the whole thing out.  But the best thing the story has is redheads.  I give this story four out of five stars.
